Burundi has long been overlooked in comparison to its neighbouring East African specialty coffee producing powerhouses (Ethiopia, Kenya & Tanzania). The country’s coffee is produced almost entirely by smallholder farmers, and much of this small-scale production is of exceptional quality. With its super sweet, clean and often floral coffees, Burundi, is cementing itself on the specialty coffee map.
This coffee is produced by the Yandaro station, located close to the border with Rwanda, in the Kayanza province. Both countries share special growing conditions in the corridor that connects the south of Rwanda to the north of Burundi. Greenco is the owner of the Yandaro Station and has other well known. They started their work in 2015, and have dominated all Burundi Cup of Excellence competitions ever since.
This honey processed coffee is unique for Burundi which predominately produces washed coffees. Juicy, sweet and clean, it is perfect for an espresso or filter coffee.
