Regional Strength from Cajamarca

This coffee comes from the Chingama valley in the Bellavista district of Jaén, northern Peru. It is produced by members of the El Palto Agroecological Producers Association. The families farm at 1600 to 1800 metres above sea level and many are now in their third generation of coffee growing. The lot is certified organic and fully traceable.

In specialty coffee, attention often goes to single producers or exclusive microlots. Regional coffees rarely get the spotlight. Yet they reveal something essential: the overall quality level of an entire region. When many small farms consistently harvest ripe cherries and apply clean, disciplined washed processing, quality becomes reliable at scale. This coffee is proof of that. Cherries are selectively handpicked, fermented, washed and carefully dried. The cup shows clarity and structure, balanced sweetness, red fruit notes, light citrus and a clean, steady finish.

Community and Responsibility

El Palto was founded in 2007 by 25 smallholders with a clear goal: to compete in certified specialty markets while improving the quality of life for coffee growing families. Today the association stands for social responsibility, environmental stewardship, equity and transparent organisation.

Coffee is grown under shade in a traditional high altitude valley. Agroecological practices support long term soil health and biodiversity, backed by technical assistance from the association. This lot represents collective effort and demonstrates how strong processes across many farms can define the identity of a whole region.
